Kokunkokun
Welcome to Kokunkokun, a graphic site and personal blog run by Kate. Like similar sites, Kokunkokun offers its visitors the typical graphics expected today, such as 100x100 avatars, wallpapers, and various layouts. Unlike many similar sites, Kate welcomes requests and submissions. In other words, this site is for YOU! Tell me what you'd like to see and I'll do it. This includes requesting specific graphics for you or your site, like avatars or layouts. While Kokunkokun is compatible with most current browsers at resolutions of 800x600+, it is recommended that it be viewed in Mozilla Firefox at a resolution of 1024x768 or higher.
Version 14: Crazy New Year
I really fell in love with the simplicity of last month's layout, so I tried to do something similar again this month. I lvoe Tukiji Nao's art, too, especially this image, so I'm happy I found a way to work it in to the layout. The original image can be found at Anime Artbooks, with a brush from Aethereality, a texture from Sanami276, and the font Stereofidelic from Dafont.com.

Ready for Sushi
[Edit] Yay! I'm now up to four participants in the collaboration, but it won't be very exciting with only two teams, will it? You should really think about joining. Actually, you should really just join. That's pretty much my only news. That and I went to the bookstore before getting sushi today and got volume one of Princess Ai. I haven't read it yet, but it looks pretty good. I read both volumes of Solanin today, also. It's really quite amazing. You can find it on Manga Fox if you'd like to check it out. That's quickly becoming one of my favorite sites, haha. I found an excellent but rather creepy manhwa called Chronicles of the Grim Pedlar. You should totally check it out. I read somewhere that the scanlation had been dropped, but I'm not sure if that meant at Manga Fox as well. I hope not. I really love the story. Anyway, that is all. Join a contest or two here, okay? [/Edit]
I'll try and make this quick, because my sister and I are sneaking out for sushi in about forty-five minutes. Let's see, what has been updated at Kokunkokun...well, I remembered to put up a banner for the VDX, and I finally got the information up for the new contest [you can check it out here]. I pruned my rotations section for various reasons, including not being added to the rotation in a timely fashion and just some problems with the rotation codes. I also updated the SOTM, so make sure you join! So far all of my SOTM contests have been really small...like only one or two people have joined, which is lame and unexciting, so join! I added some more gifts to my collection, which you can check out in my awards and gifts section. No one has even attempted to guess the new character--still!--so I've added a third hint. Really now, at least give it a try, folks!
I'm still holding on to a small hope that the rest of my contests will be successful, so make sure you join, alright? So far I've only had two people sign up for the collaboration, and only one other person is showing any interest in the VDX. Don't let me down guys, okay? And while I'm on the topic of contests, how often do you visit AnimeShare? Do you know right now there is a contest going on to design their February 2009 layout? It sounds like a good time--I'm not joining, though, because I'm sponsoring prizes--so if you think you can design a good layout, give it a shot!
Okay, well, it is sushi-time [or just about, anyway], so I'm going to get ready and head out. Join some Kokun contests! ♥ Kate [1:55PM EST on 4 January 2009]

Happy New Year!
Hurray for 2009! Hurray for new layouts! Hurray for some new stuff--well, actually, look for the new stuff in a few more days. You'll have the chance to win an award for your site, but I haven't gotten everything set up right now for it. Hopefully you can all wait another couple of days for that, though!
That's really the extent of the changes right now. The other changes will be happening later on, like the addition of vectored outlines in the resource section, a complete removal and revamp of the layouts and wallpapers, and the addition of a poetry anthology. After all, I'm sure I'm not the only one who has looked for the perfect quote to compliment a layout at one time or another!
So another thing I'm going to do is open sign-ups for another event here at Kokunkokun: the first-annual Valentine's Day Exchange! If you've ever been a participant in any past contests or events [the Xmas Xchange], you've got an automatic in for this one, too! I'm pretty excited about it. You can check it out here.
Speaking of events and contests, since I've had two contests in a row completely flop on me--the Girls with Guns Contest and the Color Scheme Contest [both of which I thought would be pretty cool]--I'm a little discouraged but it's certainly not going to stop me. That's right, there's another new contest at Kokunkokun, the Lyrical Obsession Contest. I'm very excited about this one, more than the others I'm hosting--well, except for maybe the Fetish Contest, hehe. More information will be coming soon.
For anyone who doesn't read the comments on the index page--and you should, because sometimes I write quick notes there--Kokun has a new link exchange! I was very excited about it, too, once I read Rachel's background info [speaking of which, I updated mine to include a quick list of the basics]. It's sort of a little-known fact about me that I want to be a writer when I grow up. Rachel and I are actually both working on novels, and we both have a lot in common. We're actually two halves of the same person, in case you were wondering. No, not really. It was just a little eerie to read about her because a lot of it is true about me as well. Anyway, I mention this because I'm kind of looking for opinions. What I'm looking for are a few people between the ages of, say, 13 and 19 who would be interested in reading what I've written and giving me their feedback. Of course you would need to prove that you're trustworthy and won't run off with my ideas, but if you think you might be interested, drop me a line and we'll talk.
Okay, well, I'm very very tired and in the morning I'm going to see Kyle, so I'll wrap this up--but first, gifts! Yes, a new year's gift for my affiliates, a gift for my link exchanges, and finally a gift for all of my visitors. Happy New Year! ♥ Kate [12:10AMAM EST on 1 January 2009]
